Day In The Life: Sarah Rush
Being a stay-at-home Mom and a professional photographer means that your home and professional life are always colliding and always in a balancing act with each other. I do almost all of my sessions on Saturday, so I can edit during the week, while also allowing being a stay-at-home mom. Here’s a view of how my day breaks down when I’m busy being Mom and photographer.
7am
Wake up call by my stirring toddler! I’m not a morning person per say, so I don’t exactly jump out of bed. After lots of good morning kisses and snuggles, we get up. I make “breakies” for Maddy (my rambunctious toddler) and let our dog outside.
9am
I start setting up my in home studio (also known as my living room) and pick out my set ups.
9:30am
Hubby heads out to take Maddy to the park and to do other fun daddy/daughter activities!
10am
Client arrives. After I ooo and aah over Mister “C” then I tell Mom to feed him so we can get started! The session goes smoothly. Mister “C” did such a great job modeling!
1pm
Session is over. My sweet hubby brings home lunch. It’s Chick-fil-A, which is not a surprise because it’s my Kryptonite! I love their sweet tea! Chick-fil-A is one of the few places I can get a yummy sweet tea here in Colorado!
1:30pm
Maddy goes down for a nap! Wahoo, party time! Lol, not really! I use nap time to package sessions and catch up on some editing!
3:30pm
My little beast Maddy is awake! Trying to edit with a toddler is near impossible! I get the two of us ready to run errands because I need to grab some more packaging supplies.
5pm
We get home and I turn into superwoman (I wish!) and do the dishes, vacuum and try to make a dent in the growing mountain of laundry, etc, etc.
6pm
Start preparing for dinner!
7pm
Family dinner time!
8pm
Start Maddy’s bedtime routine, including bath time, brushing teeth, and reading about half a dozen books! She absolutely LOVES reading!
9pm
Maddy’s bedtime! This is when I start my late night editing!
11pm
Sometimes I’ll sneak some Facebook time in! Then, it’s time for me to hit the hay!
